The amazing part of radio is not how the music gets from the CD Player to the transmitter and then to your stereo or laptop. The amazing part is how a small group of staff members and dedicated volunteers work together to keep a local, public radio station on the air. Add the financial support of our members, business underwriters and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and we have 91.9 KRVM.
Since the middle of March, with the “Stay Home, Stay Safe” guidelines due to COVID 19, the KRVM world has been turned upside down just like our listener’s worlds have, too. The KRVM volunteer DJs have been asked to stay home and stay safe after many of them have been hosting shows in the studio live, every week for several years.
The following programs have returned in one form or another, with the volunteer DJs producing at home, or contributing music for staff to play on-air:
Breakfast with The Blues, Miles of Bluegrass, the Rock’n’Roll Hall of Fame Show, Short Strange Trip, Sidetracks, Greaser’s Garage, Decades of Rock, Country Classics, The Beatles Hour, Magical Mystery Tour, Routes & Branches, Acoustic Junction, Island Earth Radio, 60’s Beat, Son of Saturday Gold, Soul City, Women In Music, Sounds Global, Swing Shift, Soundscapes, and Into the Muse.
For many of our DJs, recording at home is new and they are learning much more than they ever thought they would have to learn. All to continue to provide the music you enjoy and the experience you appreciate.
In addition to the volunteer DJs, our committed staff have been working at the station and remotely at home to keep KRVM on-the-air by providing music you love, community public service announcements and daily weather updates.
This could not be done without the financial support of our members, business underwriters and CPB.
It truly takes a village to “Keep Real Variety in Music”.
Thank you for your continued support!
