There is an ongoing severe blood shortage, and healthy individuals are needed to donate now to help people counting on lifesaving blood. Donating blood is a safe process and people should not hesitate to give - or receive - blood. There are several places accepting blood donations. For more information or to make an appointment […] The Art Center in Corvallis hosts a free drop-in afternoon of art making from 1 to 4 pm on the second Saturday of each month. All supplies are provided, and all ages and experience levels are welcome. Different themes or techniques are featured each month. More information and instructions HERE. Lane County Master Gardeners, a part of the OSU Extension Service, are holding gardening classes through November 1st. Topics include pruning, composting, and growing, herbs, flowers, and vegetables. Classes are being held in Creswell, Springfield, Eugene, Florence, and Oakridge. Registration is required for each class. Information and registration HERE. The Black Cultural Initiative in Eugene is conducting gardening classes from now until November 1st at various times and dates. Participants do not have to attend every class. See registration, dates, and times below. U of O's Museum of Natural and Cultural History presents Indigenous Queer art and history, exhibited from 5/16/25 to 1/4/26. More information HERE. SMART Reading, a nonprofit working statewide for children’s literacy, is seeking volunteer readers to pair with a child or classroom an hour a week, or volunteer coordinators to help SMART implement the reading sessions for several hours per week. Volunteer information HERE. The Oregon Department of Justice, or DOJ, is tracking hate and bias crimes and incidents, which can be verbal, physical, or visual. If you witness or are the victim of a bias crime or incident, please report to the DOJ. More information on reporting HERE. Next Step Recycling is a Eugene nonprofit providing technology skills training to those with barriers to employment. When you donate electronic and technological equipment to Next Step, they repair the items and put them back into use in the community, reducing waste while providing employment opportunities. More information HERE. The nonprofit "Sponsors" in Lane County offers re-entry opportunities for people with conviction histories. Re-entry services include transitional and permanent housing, employment support, mentoring, and counseling. Sponsors is now seeking volunteers to act as mentors to persons re-entering the community. More information HERE. Easterseals of Oregon offers internships, job training, and coaching to eligible job seekers, as well as addressing language and literacy barriers to employment. The Easterseals Employment Program focuses on supporting persons with disabilities, unhoused veterans, and persons over 55 years old. More information HERE. Wetland Wanders are free guided walks through the West Eugene Wetlands or other local natural areas on the second Tuesday of each month from 9 am to 11 am. Each walk explores a different theme, conservation project, and site in the Eugene/Springfield area. Wetland walks are sponsored by Willamette Resources and Educational Network, or WREN. […] The nonprofit "Our Organic Garden Program" offers Latinx and immigrant families the opportunity to grow organic vegetables, fruits, and herbs in seven community gardens. The Lane County Diaper Bank delivers diapers to new parents in need, helping to reduce family financial stress and give every child a chance to thrive. Host a diaper drive HERE or volunteer HERE. Receive diapers HERE. The Oregon Heritage Commission offers grants for the conservation, development, and interpretation of Oregon's cultural heritage.
