When Dan Parslow was a teenager, he began volunteering at WCUW, Community Unity Radio in Worcester, MA. His spectrum of duties included co-hosting music shows and maintaining the music library.
After relocating to Bellingham, Washington, DJ Dan joined KUGS, Western Washington University radio. While there, he hosted The Eclectic Circus music show.
When he moved to Kauai in 2000, he joined KKCR, Kauai Community Radio. He hosted Into the Muse each week, an obscure rock ‘n roll, psych, prog, eclectic mix of music. He was also a guest host for shows spanning a multitude of genres, from Hawaiian to Jazz, Blues to Jam, and assisted with station fundraising and community outreach activities.
Complementing his passion for radio, Dan is a musician who is known for his passion for the blues and soulful shredding guitar solos. He’s recorded and performed for decades and has released 15 solo albums, in addition to live recordings. Dan has shared the stage with many notable artists, including Bill Kreutzmann (Grateful Dead), Taj Mahal, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Mike Gordon (Phish), Charlie Musselwhite, Luther “Guitar Jr.” Johnson, and Steve Kimock.
DJ Dan is having a blast volunteering for KRVM. He appreciates opportunities to interact with other volunteers as well as community members who share his love of community radio.
