As part of the 4J School System, KRVM is first and foremost an educational resource for Eugene-area high school students. Students at several area schools have the opportunity to learn radio broadcasting in a real-world environment.
At the KRVM Main Studio located at Sheldon High School, a staff Program Director selects a broad mix of Adult Album Alternative (AAA, or "Triple A") music that appeals to our listening audience while satisfying both Federal Communication Commission and 4J policies for appropriate content.
Through classroom and on-air training, student DJs learn to deliver this pre-programmed music mix, in addition to public service announcements, KRVM show promos, and some music of their own choosing.
KRVM is known best for its "Breakfast with the Blues" seven mornings a week. Often featuring local and regional artists, the show is hosted by a variety of volunteers. Each host has their own style and musical preferences. We play a mix of old and new, electric and acoustic, hard-rockin' and smooth soul.
In the evenings and overnight, volunteer DJs play a wide variety of music. Tune into Native American music, Grateful Dead, Americana, Women's Music, Bluegrass, Traditional and New Acoustic, Frank Zappa and even Electronica. Check out KRVM Shows in Detail for more information on your favorite shows.
