Community event celebrates science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics education
WHAT: STEaM Eugene Celebration
WHEN: Wednesday, March 20, 4:30–8 p.m.
4:30–8 p.m. Family STEaM activities, showcase of student projects, community partner exhibit
5:30 p.m. Community panel: “Lane County’s cutting-edge solutions to confront the world’s environmental threats and the role of education in facing these challenges. Q&A with community stakeholders will follow panel.
6:15 p.m. Showing of “Inventing Tomorrow” documentary
WHERE: Churchill High School, 1850 Bailey Hill Rd., Eugene
COST: FREE. Light refreshments will be provided.
Come celebrate science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics education at STEaM Eugene. This free community event will be held at Churchill High School on Wednesday, March 20, 4:30–8 p.m. Drop in or stay for the whole event.
STEaM activities will be available for kids of all ages from 4:30–8 p.m., along with a showcase of student projects and exhibits from community partners, including BRING Recycling, McKenzie River Trust, Seneca Sawmill Sustainable Energy, Hummingbird Wholesale and Lane Community College.
At 5:30 p.m. there will be a community panel titled “Lane County’s cutting-edge solutions to confront the world’s environmental threats and the role of education in facing these challenges.” The panel will be followed by a Q&A with community stakeholders.
A showing of the documentary “Inventing Tomorrow” will begin at 6:15 p.m. The documentary takes viewers around the world to meet teenagers who are innovating cutting-edge solutions to help solve environmental problems.
