Second Friday Art Walk

You can discover a variety of artful venues, art and artists during the Downtown Springfield 2nd Friday Art Walk on August 10th from 5 to 8PM. The festivities begin with a viewing of Asante Riverwind’s “Nature & Spirit, Dreams & Visions” exhibit at the Island Park Gallery of the Willamalane Adult Activity Center. Featured artists of the evening will be on hand until 7 p.m. to discuss their works over complimentary hors d’oeurves and wine.
The yet-to-be-announced tour guide will begin the guided portion of the evening at 5:30 p.m. by leading guests downtown to the Emerald Art Center by way of a shuttle. At the Emerald Art Center, Renee Wright will show of her exhibit “Creative Heat Mind and Soul.” Photographs by Stu Levy, Susie Morril and Jerry Jump will also be on display. At Talking Rhythms, Paula Goodbar exhibits “Illuminations and Ruminations Part 1, Photographic Composites.” The next stop on the art walk is the City Hall Gallery, displaying paintings by Dennis Duval and offering light refreshments and music by Bob Ragen. The final stop on the guided tour is at Hearts for Hospice to see wood carvings by John Culver and listen to live music by Don and Judi Barhart while sampling homemade desserts and wine.
Other businesses in downtown Springfield will be open until 8 p.m. to showcase additional works by local artists. Check out the Washburne Cafe for several vendors selling signs, stickers, shirts, soaps and jewelry as part of Woman’s Makers Night. 100 Mile Bakery has cat-themed creations by artist Puss, while 331 Mosaic features unique pieces and prints by artist Celeste Jacobi.
