Eugene Astro SUN-days
June 23 @ 12:00 pm - September 29 @ 2:00 pm
Eugene Astronomical Society presents Solar SUN-day star parties. We meet every Sunday afternoon in Alton Baker Park from noon to 2:00 and view the Sun through safely filtered solar telescopes. We can see sunspots when there are any (an increasingly rare phenomenon as we approach solar minimum), and there will likely be some prominences standing out from the edges. We’ll also have a collection of sundials on display, so you can learn how to tell time the old-fashioned way. We meet next to the scale model Sun to the west of the duck pond. Come join us for an interesting and fun afternoon in the Sun! We’ll be doing this every Sunday throughout the summer, with occasional breaks when we can’t field any telescopes on a particular Sunday. Check our website for last-minute details here.
